2026 WLCA Award-Winning Project
This new construction home in Lake Country came with a fully exposed basement, a sizable grade change in the backyard, and a homeowner who wanted plenty of greenery. Our landscape design in Hartland, WI starts out front with a full-range natural bluestone walkway that leads guests to the entrance. It connects to a bluestone stoop and carries around to the rear patio, so the hardscape works as one cohesive piece that complements the architecture of the home. This walkway design and installation sets the tone for the whole property.
In the back, outcropping stone walls and steps handle the slope and add structure to the yard. A second wall along the deck creates a flat, usable space underneath, which is now home to a hot tub. A custom fire pit with a smokeless insert sits in a stone chip area surrounded by plantings, making it an easy spot to gather with family and friends. Shrubs, perennials, and accent plants soften the stonework and give the property color and texture through the seasons. Lighting on the house, front walkway, and back steps adds a warm glow and keeps the way safe after dark.
